FHF News and Recent Events
On June 10th the Families of Highway Fatalities held the 1st Annual Myrtle Beach Blood Drive and collected 34 units of blood. This drive was held in memoriam of the McCants/Sermon family. FHF member, Iteisha McCants lost her fiancé Mark Sermons Jr., and both children (son) Mark III and (daughter) Dajah Sermons on November 11, 2009 in Horry County. The blood drive is just one way, the FHF program offers support to families, while honoring their loved ones. The SC Firefighters Assoc. was the sponsor partner for this drive.
The 5th Annual Columbia blood drive was held on June 28th in memory of Rodney Williams, victim of an unsolved fatal hit and run that occurred in Richland County on April 24, 2010. The Williams family searching for information, is hopeful the drive and it’s media efforts will lead to answers and help their healing process. The drive collected 58 units of blood. Fuddruckers and Crime stoppers were the sponsor partners for this drive.
The 5th Annual Families of Highway Fatalities Blood Drive, collecting 32 units of blood, was held on May 5th at the Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The drive was held in memory of John Ray Fisher, who was killed in a single car collision in Berkeley county 2009 when he was 17. FHF members, Wesley, Haley and Calhoun Rabon find it healing to support community events such as the blood drive, as they honor and remember loved one, John Ray. The Charleston Riverdogs was the sponsor partner for this drive.
