LANCE CORPORAL JEFFERY SLOSS NAMED

HIGHWAY PATROL DISTRICT FOUR TROOPER OF THE YEAR

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety today named L/Cpl. Jeffery Sloss as the Highway Patrol’s District Four Trooper of the Year at the agency’s annual Employee Recognition Ceremony.

Sloss joined the Highway Patrol in 1994 in Cherokee County until he transferred to Fairfield County in 1999. In his first five years there, he led Cherokee County troopers in DUI arrests and received several awards for his DUI work, including the ADSAP DUI award from Cherokee County and the District Four Top DUI award from MADD South Carolina. He also led in other enforcement areas. Sloss is on the District Four Operation STOP team, a specialized enforcement team, and is a member of the CERT (Civil Emergency Response Team). He serves as a background investigator for the Highway Patrol.

Before joining the Highway Patrol, Sloss served four years with the U.S. Army. He currently serves in the military and South Carolina National Guard as a Logistical Operations Supervisor.

"L/Cpl. Sloss is a well-liked and respected member of the Patrol," said Highway Patrol Col. Ralph Mobley. "He is routinely called upon to assist at the Patrol Training Academy when new Highway Patrol troopers are being trained. He always sets a positive example for other troopers to follow."

Sloss has one daughter, Briyanna, and attends Morris Creek Baptist Church in Winnsboro.
