DISTRICT 1 HP CHANGES PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICERS, INTRODUCES MEDIA HOTLINE, BLACKOUT TIMES

COLUMBIA – Sgt. Jones Gamble will no longer be the public information officer for Highway Patrol District 1. Gamble, who has served as PIO for nearly four years, is still a sergeant in District 1 but will no longer take media calls.

Effective immediately, Sgt. T.M. Bell, of Kershaw County and L/Cpl. R.S. Johnson, of Richland County, will be the new public information officers.

Beginning Sunday, Feb. 20, there will be one PIO contact number, which is 803-737-8374. Media are instructed to call this number, leave a message and a page will go directly to the PIO on call. Also, beginning Feb. 20, there will be a blackout time between 11:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. PIOs will not return media calls during these hours.
