DPS NAMES 1999 OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEES

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety recognized 16 employees today for outstanding job performance and contributions to the Agency. The following awards were presented at a 2 p.m. ceremony at the Criminal Justice Academy:

Director’s Award: Willie B. Holmes Jr., DPS Supply

Director’s Award (for exceptional service): An employee who has made a contribution over and above requirements according to the Awards Policy. The recipient for this award is determined solely by the Agency Director. Commissioned and noncommissioned employees are eligible. This award is the highest award granted by the director within the Department of Public Safety.

Equal Opportunity Award: Kenneth L. Titus, Human Resources Office

DPS Equal Opportunity Award: This award recognizes a significant contribution to the Equal Employment Opportunity Program. It is not restricted to EEO Program officials. Contributions could be in the areas of leadership, training, recruitment, etc., which enhance opportunities for women and minorities.

DPS Employee of the Year: Brenda T. Reiser, Human Resources

DPS Employee of the Year: A noncommissioned employee who has demonstrated excellent job performance and a commitment to improve operations of the Agency.

The following awards were presented to officers/employees to recognize their outstanding contribution(s) and/or achievements during the year:

District One Trooper of the Year: Lance Cpl. Ronald S. Johnson

District Two Trooper of the Year: Lance Cpl. Craig L. Opperman

District Three Trooper of the Year: Lance Cpl. James W. Sanders Jr.

District Four Trooper of the Year: Lance Cpl. Ray H. Stapp Jr.

District Five Trooper of the Year: TFC Christopher R. Caldwell
