FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS 16 KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MAR. 3-5

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 16 people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, March 3, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 5, at midnight.

Six people died in single-vehicle collisions. Four people were killed in two-vehicle collisions, and three of those died in head-on collisions. Three pedestrians were struck and killed. Three motorcyclists were killed (helmet usage unknown).

So far this year, 157 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 142 at this time last year.
