FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SEVEN KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS APRIL 7-9

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, April 7, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 9, at midnight.

Three people were killed Friday night on I-26 in Richland County when another vehicle crossed the median and struck their vehicle. None of those killed was wearing a safety belt.

Another man was killed when his vehicle struck a tree and another when her vehicle overturned. One man was killed when his bicycle was struck by a vehicle.

So far, 277 people have died on South Carolina highways this year, compared to 244 last year at this time.
