SCDPS PROMOTES ZACK WISE TO SERVE AS
BPS FIELD OPERATIONS CAPTAIN
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety today announced that Zack Wise has been promoted to serve as the Bureau of Protective Services Field Operations Captain. The promotion was effective April 2.
"Capt. Wise has played a pivotal role in the success and professional growth of the Bureau of Protective Services," said Chief Clayton Spradley, BPS Deputy Director. "He has risen through the ranks of the Bureau through his tireless efforts and professionalism. He has definitely earned this new rank."
As Field Operations Captain, Wise will help oversee day-to-day operations of BPS activities at the State House, the South Carolina Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal, and at various state agencies. Wise most recently served as State House Operations Lieutenant, where he oversaw security measures designed to ensure the safety of elected officials, state employees and all visitors to the State House.
Capt. Wise is a veteran of the Gulf War, where he served with the United States Marine Corps. The Prosperity native has been in law enforcement for seven years, beginning his career with the Newberry County Sheriffs Department. He currently resides in Irmo with his wife and two children. He and his family are members of the Columbia Church of Christ.
The Bureau of Protective Services is the DPS division that specializes in security and policing for the state's executive, legislative, judicial and administrative operations. It is responsible for the security and safety of the Governor's Mansion, for the Governor and his family and for numerous state-owned facilities.
