FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS NINE KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MAY 26 - 29

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine people killed on South Carolina highways during the Memorial Day holiday period, which ran from Friday, May 26, at 6 p.m. until Monday, May 29, at midnight.

Six people died in single-vehicle collisions and one person died in a two-car collision. One motorcyclist and one pedestrian were also killed. So far this year, 429 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 390 at this time last year.
