FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS 12 KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JUNE 9-11
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 12 people killed on South Carolina highways between Friday, June 9, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 11, at midnight.
One person was killed when she lost control of her car due to excessive speed. A driver and passenger were killed in an accident where a vehicle struck another vehicle. Another driver was killed when her vehicle went down an embankment.
Two drivers were killed after one vehicle crossed the center lane. Another woman died when another car ran a red light and struck her car. One person was killed when a vehicle struck another vehicle in the bumper, causing it to spin out of control and overturn in the median. Three people were killed in separate collissions where the vehicle struck trees. One woman was killed when her vehicle struck several other vehicles.
So far, 476 people have died on South Carolina highways this year, compared to 427 last year.
