FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FIVE KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JULY 7-JULY 9
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five (5) people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, July 7, at 6 p.m. through midnight Sunday, July 9.
Of the four people who died in vehicle collisions, no one was wearing a seat belt. The fifth person to die over the weekend crashed his motorcycle into a tree. Two passengers died in a single vehicle accident shortly before noon Sunday, July 9 just outside of Gilbert.
So far this year, 564 have died on South Carolina highways compared to 522 this time last year.
