FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS AUGUST 4-6
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina roadways from 6 p.m. Friday, August 4, through midnight, Monday, August 6.
One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision that resulted when one person failed to yield the right of way. Another person was killed when his vehicle struck a tree. Another woman was killed when her vehicle crossed the median on I-26. A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a phone pole. Two people were killed after the car they were travelling in ran into a ditch.
So far this year, 639 people have died on South Carolina highways compared to 613 last year at this time.
