FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS NINE KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS SEPTEMBER 1 - 4
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine people killed on South Carolina highways during the Labor Day holiday weekend, which ran from Friday, September 1, at 6 p.m. until Monday, September 4, at midnight.
Five people were killed in separate single-vehicle collisions and two people died in separate two-vehicle collisions. One person was killed when the vehicle he was driving collided with a tractor. One motorcyclist died in a multi-vehicle collision.
So far this year, 712 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 718 at this time last year.
