FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS TEN KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS NOVEMBER 10-12

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of ten people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, November 10, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, November12, at midnight.

Two pedestrians were killed in separate collisions and a six-year-old died in a two-car collision in Cherokee County. The six-year-old, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was not wearing a seat belt and died as a result of being struck by the vehicle’s air bag. Six of the eight motor vehicle occupants killed were not wearing seat belts. And felony DUI charges were made in two of the fatal collisions.

As of November 12, 917 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 919 last year at this time.
