HP ACE TEAM SEIZES 45 POUNDS OF MARIJUANA, ARRESTS SEVEN
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that a routine traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Lexington County on November 29 led to the arrest of seven people and the seizure of 45 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $110,000.
Members of the Highway Patrols ACE team made the stop after clocking a Georgia car traveling at 80 mph in a 70-mph zone. A search of the vehicle uncovered the marijuana wrapped in clear plastic in a cardboard box.
The driver of the vehicle, Cristin Cinquino, 19, of Conway was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, conspiracy to traffic marijuana and possession of hashish. Two passengers in the vehicle also were arrested on the same charges. They are James Turner, 24, of Conway, and Chris Hickman, 25, of Atlanta, Ga.
The Patrol, working in conjunction with the DEA and the Conway Police Department, made a controlled delivery of the marijuana to a home in the Conway community.
Following the delivery, the three law enforcement agencies charged Christopher M. Conner, 19, of Georgetown; Paul G. Cameron, 21, of Pawleys Island and Travis R. West, 23 of Conway, with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Joseph M. Huggins, 21, of Conway, was charged with trafficking marijuana.
In addition to the seizure of the drugs, $6,348 in cash and three vehicles were seized.
