COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces the following:
Who: South Carolina Department of Public Safety; DHECs Office of Emergency Medical Services; Mothers Against Drunk Driving; Sen. John Land, Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee; and Dylan Blue, a 10-year-old boy whose father was killed by a drunk driver
What: News conference to launch "You drink and drive. We all lose Designate a Driver." and to announce December as National Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month, Dec. 15-17 as National Holiday Lifesavers Weekend and Dec. 15 as "Lights on for Life" Day. During National Holiday Lifesavers Weekend, law enforcement will conduct a highly visible mobilization effort to remove drunk and drugged drivers from South Carolinas roads. On "Lights on for Life" Day, motorists are encouraged to drive with their headlights on during daylight hours in memory of those people killed in impaired driving crashes.

NOTE: DHECs Office of Emergency Medical Services will stage a mock crash at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lincoln and Devine Streets. Media are encouraged to cover this event prior to the 11:30 a.m. news conference.
