FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FOUR KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS DECEMBER 15-17
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, December 15, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 17, at midnight.
One man was struck by a pick-up truck and killed while riding his bicycle. One man was killed when his pick-up truck swerved and hit a tractor-trailer truck head-on. One man was killed in a single-vehicle accident when his vehicle struck a tree. One person died when her car burst into flames after she ran off the roadway, hit a bridge and went down an embankment.
So far, 1,013 people have died on South Carolina highways this year, compared to 1,023 at this time last year.
