FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS TEN KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS APRIL 20-22

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 10 people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, April 20, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 22, at midnight.

Six vehicle occupants were killed after their vehicles struck trees. One person was killed after his vehicle left the road and overturned, pinning him beneath the vehicle. Two motorcyclists were killed after one hit a vehicle and another struck a tree. A bicyclist died after being hit by another vehicle.

As of April 22, 272 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 322 last year at this time.
