FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS THREE KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JUNE 15-17
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 17, at midnight.
Two people died in separate collisions on Interstate 26, while the third person died in a single vehicle wreck outside of Bishopville. One person was ejected from a vehicle on Interstate 26 after the driver lost control of the vehicle and it flipped over a guardrail. In the second Interstate-26 collision, the driver of one vehicle was ejected after her vehicle struck a tree. And the driver of a vehicle in Lee County apparently lost control of her vehicle, ran off the road, struck a culvert and was partially ejected from the vehicle, which then rolled over her.
As of June 18, 404 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 510 last year at this time.
