FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SEVEN KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JUNE 22-24

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, June 22, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 24, at midnight.

One person died after his vehicle struck a telephone pole and he was ejected. One man died when his vehicle ran off road, struck a guardrail and overturned. One person died after the vehicle he was a passenger in was struck head-on by another vehicle that had crossed the center line. Two people died in separate collisions after their cars overturned and they were ejected. One man died when his vehicle left the road, striking a tree. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pick-up truck.

As of June 23, 431 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 527 last year at this time.
