COLUMBIA - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety needs the public’s help in locating the person who struck and killed a pedestrian on July 5 at 3:25 a.m. in York County. The accident was on Secondary 918 (State Line Road) about six miles east of Clover and about one mile from the North Carolina line.

The pedestrian has been identified as Mark A. Jack, 30, 508 Cycle Lane, Dallas, N.C. Jack was found lying dead in the roadway in the northbound lane. An unknown vehicle travelling north on State Line Road ran over Jack and left the scene. It is possible that the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian did not know it because of poor visibility and heavy fog.
