HIGHWAY PATROL SEIZES 10 OUNCES OF COCAINE IN AN I-85 TRAFFIC STOP IN OCONEE COUNTY
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces the seizure of 10 ounces of cocaine with a street value of $48,000 in a traffic stop yesterday on I-85 in Oconee County.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, a trooper from the Highway Patrol ACE Team stopped a 1992 Chevrolet for speeding on I-85 northbound at the two mile marker in Oconee County. An ACE Team K-9 was called in to inspect the vehicle.
While the troopers were waiting for a supervisor to arrive at the scene, the driver, 24-year-old Deshawn Davis of Atlanta, Ga., changed his six-month-old daughters diaper and then placed 10 ounces of cocaine in a clear plastic bag inside of a Wal-Mart bag under her dress. Davis was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and with child endangerment.
