COLUMBIA - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces the following media events:

WHO: Officers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies as well as state and local law enforcement officers from Georgia and North Carolina

WHAT: "Hands Across the Border" - a united effort to prevent crashes and save lives over Labor Day weekend. The agencies will meet in Welcome Centers along the South Carolina/Georgia and South Carolina/North Carolina borders to symbolize the upcoming cooperative effort.

Tuesday, August 28: 10 a.m., I-20 Welcome Center, Augusta, GA
*10:30 a.m., I-20 Welcome Center, North Augusta, SC
Tuesday, August 28: 10 a.m., I-77 Welcome Center, Charlotte, NC
*10:30 a.m., I-77 Welcome Center, Fort Mill, SC
Thursday, August 30: 10 a.m., I-95 Welcome Center, Lumberton, NC
*10:30 a.m., I-95 Welcome Center, Dillon, SC

*Please note that the 10:30 a.m. start time for the South Carolina "Hands Across the Border" events is tentative. Large media turnout at the Georgia and North Carolina events may result in a brief delay in beginning the South Carolina events.
