FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JAN. 5-7

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from 6 p.m. Friday, January 5, through midnight Sunday, January 7.

One pedestrian was sitting in the roadway and was hit and killed. One motorcyclist was killed. Two people died in two-vehicle crashes. One person was killed when her vehicle struck a tree. One person was killed when his vehicle overturned and he was ejected.

So far, 18 people have been killed on South Carolina highways this year compared to 18 at the same time last year.
