FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SEVEN KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JANUARY 26-28
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven people killed on South Carolina highways the weekend of January 26-28.
Three people died when their vehicles collided with other vehicles. One person died when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a culvert. One woman died when the vehicle in which she was riding struck a tree. Two people in separate vehicles died after one of the vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed lost control, swerved and struck the other car.
As of January 29, 49 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 69 last year at this time.
