HP SEIZES COCAINE, MARIJUANA IN SEPARATE TRAFFIC STOPS

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that two traffic stops yesterday and today resulted in the seizure of 30 pounds of marijuana and 17 ounces of cocaine with a combined street value of nearly $100,000.

Tome-Juventino Luna of Eden, N.C., was stopped at 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday on 1-95 in Florence County for speeding and following too closely. Luna, who was driving a 1997 Honda, was carrying 30 pounds of marijuana covered in black trash bags in the trunk with a street value of $38,000. Luna was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana.

On Thursday at 11:30 a.m., a 1992 Mercedes driven by Marion Jovon Stuckey, of Richmond, Va., was stopped on I-85 northbound in Greenville County for following too closely and for an expired tag. Troopers discovered four plastic bags of cocaine in the trunk of the car with the help of a K-9 dog. The cocaine had a street value of $61,200.

Stuckey and passenger Glenn LeRoy Robertson, also of Richmond, Va., were both arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to traffic cocaine.
