FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FOUR KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS FEBRUARY 9 - 11

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, February 9, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 11, at midnight.

One pedestrian and one motorcyclist were killed in separate collisions. The motorcyclist, who made a left turn in front of a truck, was not wearing a helmet. His wife, who was wearing a helmet, remains in critical condition at an Upstate hospital. It is unknown whether or not the other two fatalities were wearing their seat belts

As of February 11, 84 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 106 last year at this time.
