FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS FOUR KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS FEBRUARY 23 - 25
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, February 23, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 25, at midnight.
Three people died in separate single-vehicle collisions. One woman was killed when she lost control of the vehicle she was driving; the vehicle overturned and was partially submerged in a ditch. One man was killed when his vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree. Another man was killed when his vehicle struck a construction barricade, ran off the road and overturned several times. Only one person was wearing a seat belt. One pedestrian was struck and killed.
As of February 25, 140 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 130 last year at this time.
