FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MARCH 30-APRIL 1
COLUMBIA The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, March 30, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 1, at midnight.
Two people were killed in separate collisions after their vehicles ran off the road striking a tree. One person was killed when he struck a tow truck head-on. A passenger was killed when the car he was driving in rear-ended an 18-wheeler that had slowed down for another collision. One man was killed after his car ran into a lake. Another man was killed when he lost control of his car, striking an embankment and overturning.
As of April 1, 212 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 260 last year at this time.
