FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS JANUARY 25-27

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, January 25, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 27, at midnight.

A 25-year-old Ware Shoals mother died when she lost control of her vehicle and it flipped several times before she was ejected. Her seven-year-old child, who was properly restrained in the vehicle, was uninjured. And a 38-year-old Dillon County man died when he failed to yield the right of way, while riding a four -wheel all-terrain vehicle. He was struck by a pick-up truck.

As of January 27, 57 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 65 last year at this time.
