FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS APRIL 5 - 7
COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, April 5, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 7, at midnight.
One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday night in Spartanburg County. A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Saturday evening in Georgetown County. A child died in a two-vehicle collision Saturday night in Lexington County. Two motorcyclists, neither of whom was wearing a helmet, were killed when their motorcycle left the roadway and hit a culvert early Sunday morning in Lexington County. One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Sunday morning in Saluda County. Only one of the three motor vehicle occupants killed was wearing a seat belt.
As of April 7, 248 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 247 last year at this time.
