HIGHWAY PATROL SEIZES 15 KILOGRAMS OF COCAINE
IN I-85 STOP WITH $2.5 MILLION STREET VALUE

COLUMBIA - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announced that the Highway Patrol ACE Team seized 15 kilograms of cocaine in an I-85 traffic stop Friday night. The cocaine had an estimated street value of $2.5 million.

The Highway Patrol stopped a 1992 Acura Legend for speeding and weaving on I-85 in Greenville County around 8:25 p.m. The cocaine was concealed in a speaker box in the trunk of the vehicle and in a false compartment in the gas tank.

Andrew Anthony Jaramillo, 24, of Asheboro, N.C., and passenger Jesus Molina Basurto, 24, Nashville, Tenn., were charged with trafficking cocaine, conspiracy and resisting arrest.

The case has been adopted by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
