FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS EIGHT KILLED
ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MAY 3 - 5
COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 5, at midnight.
One motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died after losing control of his motorcycle and overturning. Three pedestrians were struck and killed in two separate collisions. Four people died in three separate two-vehicle collisions. None of the four was wearing a seat belt.
As of May 5, 326 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 341 last year at this time.
