TWO FLORENCE MEN RECEIVE TOP HONORS FROM STP

COLUMBIA - The State Transport Police, a division of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, has named Lance Corporal David Duffy Employee of the Quarter for Special Operations and Senior Officer James W. Eagleson Employee of the Quarter for the Lower State Enforcement Region.

Duffy works in the Motor Carrier Compliance Unit of Special Operations. He is a 14-year veteran of law enforcement, including five years with the Highway Patrol and nine years at STP. He is a member of Florence Baptist Temple and coaches youth football with the City of Florence recreation league. He and his wife Tracy have two children.

Eagleson is an officer in the Strategic Traffic, Alcohol and RADAR (STAR) Unit and works out of the Florence district STP office. He has been with the department for four years. Eagleson was previously named Employee of the Quarter in June 2001 and has been recognized by the state Department of Revenue for his work with the dyed fuel enforcement program. He lives in Florence with his wife, Lisa.

Col. Anna J. Amos, deputy director of the State Transport Police, presents the awards quarterly to employees for outstanding achievement. The winners are selected by the managers in each particular area of operation.

The State Transport Police is responsible for the enforcement and administration of state and federal laws governing commercial motor vehicles.
