COLUMBIA - The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces the following media event:

WHO: The South Carolina Highway Patrol, the State Transport Police, the South Carolina Department of Transportation, the Columbia Fire Department, the Columbia Police Department, the Sheriff’s Offices of Lexington and Richland Counties, Richland County Emergency Medical Services and representatives of tow truck operators.

WHAT: News conference announcing a change in the law regarding emergency scenes. Legislation (H. 3049) signed by Gov. Hodges enacts tough penalties for motorists who fail to maintain control of their vehicles in and around emergency scenes. Media ride-alongs will be offered by participating agencies.
