FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS SIX KILLED 

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS SEPTEMBER 13 - 15

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, September 13, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, September 15, at midnight.

 

A motorcyclist died Friday evening in Horry County after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a tree. One person was killed in a three-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon in Pickens County. Another motorcyclist died Saturday night in Horry County after losing control of his motorcycle. He was ejected from the motorcycle and struck by another motorist. One person died Sunday afternoon in Clarendon County after losing control of his vehicle and striking a tree. Two people died Sunday afternoon in Hampton County when the vehicle in which they were riding ran off the road and struck a tree.

 

As of September 15, 728 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 748 last year at this time. Of the 586 motor vehicle occupants who have died so far this year, 423 were not wearing seat belts.
