TISHA DICKERSON RECEIVES DPS EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AWARD

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety today presented Tisha Dickerson with the Equal Employment Opportunity Award at the annual Employee Recognition Ceremony. The purpose of this award is to recognize the employee who has made significant contributions to the agency’s Equal Employment Opportunity Program.

Dickerson, an Instructor/Training Coordinator in the Office of Training and Development, conducts internal training programs, including training in cultural diversity, customer service, and administrative assistant skills. She also conducts training for other state agencies through the South Carolina Training Consortium. Dickerson has served in her present position for seven years. She also worked as a Customer Service Supervisor in the Division of Motor Vehicles for six years.

"Ms. Dickerson’s insightful and thought-provoking training style make her a valuable asset to DPS," said DPS Director B. Boykin Rose. "She is committed to creating a healthy environment where supervisors learn to be more effective and welcome differences and where each and every employee feels valued."

Dickerson designed and developed the agency’s cultural diversity training program. More than 560 employees have attended the training since it was first offered three years ago.

Dickerson, an Alabama native, resides in Irmo with her husband, Charles. She is a graduate of Alabama State University with a degree in business management and economics. She has achieved certification in Human Resource Development and is a member of the Carolina Society of Training and Development.
