MEDIA ADVISORY

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety response to 3.7 percent across-the-board budget cuts:

“We are in the process of identifying where cuts will have to be made to meet the mandatory $3.9 million reduction that the South Carolina Department of Public Safety will have to make from the 2002-2003 fiscal year budget,” SCDPS Director Boykin Rose said Tuesday.

“DPS, like every other state agency, is struggling to balance the needs of its constituency versus a loss of services and manpower brought on by continued state budget cuts. Once again, we are critically looking at every area in the agency for places to downsize, including the possibility of an agency-wide reduction in force or furloughs,” Rose added.
