FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS THREE KILLED 

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MARCH 7-9

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, March 7, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 9, at midnight.

 

Two people died March 8 on Interstate 26 in Orangeburg County when they were thrown from a van that ran off the roadway. And a Lexington County man died early Sunday after he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a water-filled ditch.

 

As of March 9, 2003, 114 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 174 last year. Of the 93 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2003, 62 were not wearing seat belts.
