FATALITY REPORT: DPS REPORTS TWO KILLED 

ON SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAYS MAY 30-JUNE 1

 

COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of two people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, May 30, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 1, at midnight.

 

The two fatalities occurred in two separate head-on collisions in the Upstate. One man has been charged with Felony Driving Under the Influence in connection with the collision that happened early Sunday morning in Anderson County on Secondary Road 815.

 

As of June 1, 2003, 338 people had died on South Carolina highways, compared to 420 last year. Of the 266 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2003, 184 were not wearing seat belts.
