COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety reminds parents and caregivers that proper installation and usage of child safety seats is imperative. With the wide variety of child restraint systems available today, correctly installing a safety seat can be challenging. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today released “Ease of Use” Child Safety Seat Ratings for about 95% of all models of child safety seats currently on the market.

In February DPS created a special website for the observance of Child Passenger Safety Week. However, educating parents and caregivers on how to protect their children in motor vehicles is a year-round responsibility, so we’d like to invite you to re-visit this site for valuable information, tips and links to additional resources on properly restraining child passengers. Your assistance is helping us share this potentially life-saving information is greatly appreciated.
