STATE TRANSPORT POLICE ANNOUNCES SUPERVISOR’S “EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER” AWARDS

 

COLUMBIA - The State Transport Police, a division of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, has announced winners of the quarterly Supervisor’s Employee Awards.

 

The awards recognize STP employees throughout the state for outstanding achievement. The winners were chosen from five STP areas including Administrative Services, Upper and Lower State Enforcement regions, Special Operations and Motor Carrier Services.

 

The awards are based on employees’ performance in such areas as commercial vehicle safety, enforcement and inspection of critical cargoes and shipments as well as overall job performance.

 

Award recipients for the second quarter of 2003 are:

·        Upper State Enforcement Region: Senior Officer Stanley M. Buford. Officer Buford also was recognized for his outstanding efforts in the support of the South Carolina Dyed Fuel Inspection Program from October 1, 2001, through September 30, 2002. During this period, Officer Buford distinguished himself by leading the State in performing 136 diesel inspections. Officer Buford wrote 12 violations for the unlawful use of dyed fuel, which resulted in $16,900 in penalties for the State of South Carolina.

·        Lower State Enforcement Region:  Lance Cpl. Carroll S. Harrelson

·        Special Operations: Lance Cpl. James W. Bolin

·        STP Weight Specialist Services: Kelly P. Martin, Jr.

·        Motor Carrier Services: James B. Berresford

·        STP Headquarters: Sandra J. Epling

 

The State Transport Police is responsible for the enforcement and administration of state and federal laws governing commercial motor vehicles.
