COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety named Lance Corporal B.L. Albright the South Carolina Highway Patrol Troop 3 Trooper of the Year at a June 23 ceremony.
L/Cpl. Albright is currently stationed in Troop 3, Post B (Oconee/Pickens counties). He began his career with the Highway Patrol in 1997 when he was stationed in Spartanburg County. He was promoted to senior trooper in 1998 and transferred to Greenville County. He transferred to Pickens County in 2000 and was promoted to lance corporal in 2002. He served with the Easley Police Department from 1991-1993, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office from 1993-1994 and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office from 1994-1997.
L/Cpl. Albright lead the post in the number of summons issued and also in the number of DUI arrests for 2003. He is a highly respected member of the community. He has taken part in numerous training courses including marijuana analysis, Officer Survivor School, Advanced DUI School and ACE training.
“L/Cpl. Albright shows an uncommon commitment and devotion to his assigned post and the South Carolina Highway Patrol,” said Highway Patrol Col. Russell F. Roark. “He has a genuine interest in making South Carolina highways safer by working hard to make quality cases and take dangerous drivers off our highways.”
Albright is an Indiana native. He attended Morehead High School in Eden, NC, and attended Southern Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Keitha have a 5-year-old daughter, Skyler, and reside in Pickens County. Albright attends Grace United Methodist Church and is a member of the South Carolina Troopers Association.
