COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of twelve people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, April 29, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 1, at midnight.
As of May 1, 2005, 333 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 323 last year. Of the 263 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2005, 193 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
