COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, June 3, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 5, at midnight.
As of June 5, 2005, 461 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 429 last year. Of the 358 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2005, 266 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
