HIGHWAY PATROL ARRESTS HOMICIDE SUSPECT

DURING ROUTINE TRAFFIC STOP

                                                                                                                                      

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) Highway Patrol arrested a homicide suspect this afternoon from North Carolina after a routine traffic stop on I-85 in Greenville County.

 

A trooper had stopped a 2006 Toyota Camry for following too closely around the 44 mile marker. During the course of the stop, the trooper discovered that the vehicle was stolen. The driver, Charles D. Dickerson, 39, Raleigh, N.C., was placed under arrest. The trooper then received notification that Dickerson was a fugitive wanted for homicide by the Raleigh Police Department.

 

Dickerson has been transported to the Greenville Law Enforcement Center where he is in the custody of the Greenville Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition back to Raleigh.
