COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) announces the following event:
WHO: SCDPS and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will honor law enforcement officials and MADD volunteers from across the state for their efforts to stop DUI in South Carolina and to support the victims of this crime. The keynote speaker for the event is Glynn Birch, MADD National President.
WHAT: 2006 Statewide DUI Enforcement Recognition Ceremony. Awards will be presented in the following categories:
Nominations have been submitted from around the state, representing the tireless effort that agencies throughout South Carolina put into DUI enforcement. The awards ceremony also leads up to this month’s kick-off of the Sober or Slammer! campaign, which includes stepped-up enforcement of DUI laws through the Labor Day holiday.
In addition to the law enforcement awards, MADD will recognize its volunteer Community Action Site Leaders from Beaufort, Clarendon, Darlington, Florence, Georgetown, Greenville, Horry, Kershaw, Newberry, Spartanburg and Sumter counties.
