COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of nine people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, January 12, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 14, at midnight.
As of January 14, 2007, 30 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 31 in 2006. Of the 28 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 22 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
