COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of twelve people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, January 26, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 28, at midnight.
As of January 28, 2007, 67 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 51 in 2006. Of the 62 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 39 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
