COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, February 2, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 4, at midnight.
As of February 4, 2007, 80 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 68 in 2006. Of the 71 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 46 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
