COLUMBIA -- The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people killed on South Carolina highways from Friday, February 9, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 11, at midnight.
As of February 11, 2007, 98 people died on South Carolina highways, compared to 83 in 2006. Of the 82 motor vehicle occupants who died in 2007, 55 were not wearing seat belts. These are preliminary numbers and are subject to change.
